Ethelyn (Lyn) (Streitmatter) Wilmes

Ethelyn (Lyn) Jean Wilmes, 91, died in Boise, Idaho Oct. 12, 2018.
Lyn was born in Glen Ullin, North Dakota, the daughter of John and
Anna Streitmatter.

She was raised in Glen Ullin, North Dakota with her brothers Arthur
(Butch), Donald (Ducky) and Alan. Lyn married Arthur Leo Wilmes on
Oct. 24, 1946. They had two children, Linda Ann Wilmes-Gietzen
(Curtis), of Lincoln, North Dakota, and Keith Arthur Wilmes (Carol),
of Boise, Idaho.

In 1958, the family moved from Rapid City, South Dakota to southern
California on an adventurous road trip in their green 1955 Plymouth.
For most of her career, Lyn worked as a data key punch operator for
the Simi Valley School District before retiring in 1982. Art and Lyn
spent their retirement years in Lake Havasu City, enjoying a robust
social life with family and friends. They loved camping, music, and
dancing the night away. Art went to heaven in 2005. Lyn also enjoyed
reading, playing spider solitaire on the computer, cooking and baking.
Lyn is survived by her son and daughter, theirs spouses, four
grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter
and her brother Alan. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews,
cousins, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Butch and
Ducky.

Lyn's funeral service is at Our Lady of the Lake on Oct. 27 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edgewood Plantation
Assisted Living, 3921 N. Kessinger Lane, Boise, ID 83703.
