| Published in Today's News Herald on Oct. 28, 2018 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Velia Perez Carrillo passed away on October 17, 2018 at the age of 86 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. She was born to Atanasio and Maria Perez in Nonterrey Neuvo Leon, Mexico on November 17, 1931. Velia was a loving mother and grandmother. She was always there for her family; through thick and thin. She was an excellent cook and loved to cook for her family. She enjoyed crafts, reading, sewing, music and dancing. She liked to play games and enjoyed gambling. She loved sweets and always had candy at hand. Velia is preceded in death by her parents; Atanasio and Maria Perez, sisters; Rosa Ojeda and Lydia Rubio, brothers; Hector Perez and George Perez. She is survived by her sons; Carlos (Carina) Carrillo, Jr., and Xavier Carrillo, daughters; Marina Andrews, Velia Carrillo, and Laura (John) Benson, eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 3:00 pm. Services were entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
