Mohave memorial Lake Havasu Mortuary & Crematory -
Lake Havasu City, Arizona -

Donald M Stricklan, 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ on September 2, 2018 surrounded by family. He had been
diagnosed with bladder cancer, emphysema, and had complications from
an infection.

Don was born July 29, 1932 in Savannah, GA to Earl B. and Helen
(Smith) Stricklan. When he was 12 his family relocated to ID and he
grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho. When he was 17 he joined the US Navy and
served during the Korean War as a Yeoman on an aircraft carrier. He
was honorably discharged in 1953. In 1955 he met his beautiful wife
Carol Ann Stroud on a blind date set up by friends. They married on
February 26, 1955 in Buhl, ID.

Don owned a variety of small businesses, co-owned a steel fabricating
business for several years and then went back to school. He graduated
from Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID and took a position in
Gooding, ID as the Business Manager for the Idaho State School for the
Deaf and Blind. There he and Carol raised their four daughters. In
1983 Don started a roof coating business, Colorado Thermal Coatings,
and they relocated to Arvada, CO. After retiring in 2000 he and Carol
moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ where the altitude was easier on their
lungs.

Don loved to tell stories of his childhood adventures in Georgia and
Idaho and his years in the Navy. He was a great storyteller with a
quick sense of humor enriching many lives with his wit and laughter.
He loved to go fishing when he lived in Idaho. He spent many, many
hours fishing at Magic Reservoir, Henry’s Lake, the Snake River, and
anywhere else he could. He had many gifts. He invented things
continually, yet never patented his inventions. He could fix anything,
and loved to tinker with things around the house. He and Carol built 2
houses over the years in ID doing almost all the work themselves. Don
was a gifted artist, painting with oil, acrylics, and pastels. He
lived life fully and was a natural optimist even to the end of his
life.

Later in life he gave his heart to Jesus and we have joy now, knowing
that because of the promise we have in Christ, we will be united with
him again in Heaven. Don and Carol were married for 63 years, Don
passing away only 65 days after Carol.

Don is survived by his four daughters, Theri (Vic) Kelley; Lisa
Stricklan; Jennifer Stricklan; and Suzanne (Mark) Howland. He is also
survived by 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his loving wife Carol Ann (Stroud)
Stricklan; his parents Earl and Helen Stricklan; his brothers Earl
Wayne Stricklan and Howard Stricklan, his granddaughter Crickett
Rastall, and great grandson Gary Carl White IV.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church located at 1535 El
Camino Dr in Lake Havasu City on November 24, 2018 at 11:30am.
