| Published in Today's News-Herald on Jan. 6, 2019 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Verle Duane "Hank" Hankins. He was surrounded by his loving family when he joined God in heaven on December 21, 2018 at 8 pm. While our family mourns this tremendous loss, we also celebrate the wonderful life of a great man. As a young adult, Hank served his country in the United States Marine Corps. If you asked him, he would have told you that he served when cooks still carried guns. He served in Korea and was honorably discharged with letters of commendation from his ranking supervisors. He was employed with and retired from the Los Angeles Times after 32 years. Hank touched every life that he came into contact with. He coached and umpired for the baseball teams his sons and grandsons played on. He played cards, bingo, bunko, and loved to travel. He always ended vacations in Las Vegas. He is preceded in death by his loving wife; Dorene, son; Bobby, and daughter; Ginger. He is survived by three children; Sandy, Kirk, and Michael, ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home on January 10, 2019 at 4 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, California on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Services were entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Thoughts and condolences can be sent to the family at www.lietz- frazefuneralhome.com. See Also: Find A Grave |
