Local Man Dies While Asleep

Will D. Barrington, who was born on Groom Creek, January 24, 1885 died
in his sleep probably early last night, it was discovered at the
Highland hotel at 12:45 o'clock this morning, probably of a sudden and
unexpected heart attack, it was said today by a niece, Mrs. William R.
Fitzgerald of 302 South Marina street.

Services are scheduled for 3:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the
chapel of the Lester Ruffner Funeral Home, the Rev. John L. Losh of the
First Baptist church officiating. Burial will take place in the family
plot in Citizens cemetery beside the remains of his father, his
grandparents, and his brother.

Mr. Barrington had been "stone" deaf since he was about 17 years old,
due, it was thought by him to his service with the New Mexico militia.
The fire of the cannons, he often said, made him deaf. However many
years of trying made it possible, to a remarkable degree, for him to
read the lips of the person speaking to him.

For many years he followed the mining occupation. Besides Mrs.
Fitzgerald, Mr. Barrington is survived by three
sisters, Mrs. Mary (Major) Lesher of Smelter City, who arrived in town
this afternoon, Mrs. C. W. Shepherd of Carlsbad, New Mexico, and Mrs.
C. L. Finney of Council Groves, Kansas: four nephews Ben, Charles,
Harry, and Paul Major, all of the Verde district: and three nieces,
Mrs. Johnson Born and Mrs. Grace Boren, both of Prescott, and Mrs. Ray
Wolf of the Verde valley.

Mr. Barrington never was married.

Transcriber's note: Mr. Barrington is buried in an unmarked grave at
the Citizens Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.
