Passes Away At Green Age of 88 Years
J. J. Bradley, for the past five years a resident of this city, passed
away yesterday at the ripe age of 83 years. There was no special

breakdown in health, resulting in serious illness about two months ago.
Since that time he had been confined to bed awaiting the summons from
the unknown.
The deceased was born in Morgan County, Tennessee, but when a you man
removed with his wife to Texas, arriving on the border in 1859, where
he followed his trade as a contracting carpenter and builder. When the
Civil War broke out, he tendered his services to the cause of the
confederacy, and was elected captain of the 26th Infantry regiment.
After the close of the war he returned to that state where he was an
esteemed citizen afterwards. He he bore an excellent name as a
citizen, and his death is regretted by many in this section.
He is survived by a daughter, Miss Mattie Keese, two sons, J. J.
Bradley, Jr., and D. S. Bradley, residents of this city, and two sons
and one daughter in Texas.
The body is at Ruffner's to be prepared for burial in this city.
