'Rocky Mountain Jim' At the advanced aged of 98 years, J. B. Dorarity
succumbed to general debility and old age in the hospital Sunday
morning at 8:30 o’clock.
He was a pioneer of the great west and, up to a few years ago, one of
its veteran prospectors and miners. He was a blacksmith by occupation,
and in his prime was considered one of the best tool sharpeners on the
Pacific coast. He was known in almost every mining camp from British
Columbia to the Gulf of Mexico as 'Rocky Mountain Jim.'
He was born in Scotland, but emigrated to the United States an an early
age and settled in the Golden state in the early 50's.
Surviving he leaves a son, J. B. Dorarity, of Harlum (sic Harlem),
Mont., and two daughters residing in Utah. His remains were taken in
charge by Maus & Shannon undertakers, to be prepared for burial.
Transcriber's note: Mr. Dority is buried in an unmarked grave at the
Citizens Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona
