Adkins died July 25, 1987, at Oroville Hospital of natural causes. He was born May 29, 1917, in Mayflower, Ark. Adkins had been a diesel mechanic for the U.S. Navy in Crane, Ind. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, Antitank Co., 382nd Infantry. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Adkins of Oroville; one daughter, Betty Miranda of Oroville; one son, David Lee Adkins of Bakersfield; and four grandchildren. Services were under the direction of Scheer Memorial Chapel.
