Called to Rest
There occurred in Jerome on Friday morning of last week the death of
one of her most beloved citizens, Mrs. Ellen Riley.
She was the mother of four sons and two daughters. Two of her sons,
Edward and John; and her daughters are well known in Jerome, Miss Kate
being one of the teachers in the Jerome public schools.
Deceased was a native of Ireland, and was in her 70th year. By faith a
Catholic, and by her life a true disciple of Christ. She feared not to
die, but smiled at the vision of her new home beyond. By her uniform
kindness she made loving friends of all with whom she came in contact.
She was kind and motherly to all in case of sickness and distress, and
leaves not an enemy but many friends.
The remains were taken to Prescott for burial followed by a large
number of mourning friends.
The bereaved sons and daughters have the sincere sympathy of the entire
community.
