Arizona Journal-Miner, Prescott, Arizona Territory Friday, July 12, 1907, page 4.1 Aged Resident Of M'Cabe Passes Away Mrs. Melvina Childers succumbs To Long Illness After a lingering illness of fifteen years, Mrs. Melvina Childers died at midnight, Wednesday night, at her home in McCabe. The immediate cause of death was gall stones. Deceased was aged 62 years and a native of Kentucky. Since coming here about a year ago from New Mexico, she resided in turkey Creek district and McCabe with her husband, T. M. (sic. T.N.) Childers, who has mining interests in those districts. Friday she was taken from Turkey Creek to McCabe, in a serious condition, and gradually grew worse until death relieved her of her sufferings. She leaves surviving her, besides her husband, three sons and one daughter, all residents of the Territory, T. E. Childers, Eutharia Childers and Mrs. William Orr of McCabe and William Childers, at present residing in Douglas. In life she was kind and sympathetic, despite her illness; and commanded the respect and esteem of all who knew her. The funeral will take place this morning at 10 o'clock, from the Maus & Shannon undertaking parlors, under the auspices of the local lodge of Rebekahs, in which order she held membership for many years. Rev. L. W. Wheatley of the Marina street Methodist church will officiate and interment will be had in the Odd Fellows' cemetery. A large number of the residents of McCabe arrived here last night to pay their last respects to deceased at the funeral, testifying to the high esteem in which she was held by all who enjoyed her acquaintance.
