| Published in Today's News-Herald on Jan. 24, 2019 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Gilbert Michael Lopez went to be with the Lord on Jan. 15, 2019. He was born in Los Angeles on Sept. 30, 1941. Gil was raised in Orange County, graduated from Western High School and attended Fullerton College. He married his true love, Luciana, on Sept. 24, 1966. They shared a lifetime of love and were blessed with 52 years of marriage. Gil loved the Lord and served as a deacon at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church for many years. His still voice commanded respect but also gave peace and love. His smile was a testimony of the pure love that poured from his heart. He was a deacon of the Phoenix Diocese, member of Knights of Columbus and a Scout master. He enjoyed serving the church and his community, playing music, fishing, and being with family and friends. Gil is preceded in death by his parents; Antonio and Antonia Lopez and son; Richard. He is survived by his loving wife; Luciana Lopez, sons; Gilbert (Marina), Marco (Kathi), and John (Cindy) Lopez, daughters; Kathy (Sherwin) Dunn and Gabriela Barclay, sisters; Caroline Kovacs and Rosemary Jarnagan, 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A visitation and rosary service will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 at 5 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019 at 1 p.m. Gil will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulcher Catholic Cemetery of Orange, California on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019 at 2 p.m. Services were entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
