Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Friday, May 20, 1949, p. 1 Mrs. J. G. Davis Killed Husband Seriously Hurt A tragic accident Saturday evening took the life of Victoria Davis, 58, and seriously injured her husband, James G. Davis, who was believed to be recovering this week at Community Hospital. Returning from a trip to the coast, they were about one mile west of Aguila when their car hit a chuckhole in the road, went over an embankment and turned over. Mrs. Davis, who died at the scene of the accident, was thrown several feet and Mr. Davis was pinned under the steering wheel. He suffered from scalp lacerations, broken bones and deep shock. Mr. Davis was station agent for the Santa Fe Railroad at Congress for approximately eight years before his recent retirement. For the past six months they have made their home in Yarnell. Except for a few years when she lived on the Coast, Mrs. Davis had lived in this vicinity since 1928 when she accompanied her husband here from Missouri. She is a member of the Eastern Star Lodge. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Dr. J. G. Davis, Jr., of Phx.; her mother, Mrs. Alfred Rhotan of Conway, Mo.; two grandchildren and several brothers and sisters in Missouri. Services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Wickenburg Chapel with Rev. George King officiating. Burial took place here.
