| The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona September 16, 2007 Virgie Lutes Brown was born on February 12, 1922 in Wikieup, Arizona to Lucy Heflin and Carlton Noah Lutes and went home to be with the Lord on September 2, 2007. She was the beloved wife of Alvin "Cotton" Brown (deceased) and mother of Carlton E. (Barbara), Alvin "Virden" (Carole) and Jeryl (Chuck) Varsolona. Five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchil-dren and her brother Jerry Lutes also survive her. Virgie graduated from Scottsdale High School and was the first City Clerk after Scottsdale's incorporation. She retired from First American Title after a long and successful career. She was a member of the Cottonwood City Council, the Board of Directors for Verde Manor, the Board of Directors Cottonwood Library, and the Scottsdale Historical Society. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Scottsdale Historical Society, P.O. Box 143, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. A graveside service will be held at the Cottonwood Arizona Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2007. |
