Woman Killed In Car Crash
A 60-year-old woman from Syracuse, N.Y., was killed instantly yesterday afternoon in a head-on collision 23 miles west of Tucson on U.S. Highway 84, the state highway patrol reported. She was identified as Mrs. Elizabeth Kevand, wife of Julius H. Kevand, 70.
It was the 54th fatality resulting from motor vehicle accidents in Arizona since January 1.
The woman's husband was admitted to Pima County Hospital in Tucson, where his injuries last night were still undetermined.
Driver of the second car was Telesforo Valenzuela, 23, Tucson, who also suffered undetermined injuries. Earl K. Keenum, investigating patrolman, said wet roads caused Valenzuela's car to swerve into the inner lane of traffic and crash into Kevand's vehicle.
