Preceded in death by husband, William Gates; mother, Theda Walters; father, Glen L. Powles. She is survived by two brothers, George E. Powles and Leslie A. Powles; one daughter, Anna C. "Tina" Sims; four grandchildren, Tod M. Sims, Tami M. Chavez, Troy M. Sims, Tiffany M. Sims; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Penta and Autumn Chavez.
