| Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Wednesday, April 3, 2019, p. A-4 On Tuesday, March 26, Eloise B. Walter passed away at the age of 103. Eloise was born May 2, 1915, in Walnut, Iowa, to Orville and Ethyl Bricker. She received her teaching degree from Maryville College in 1937 and went on to become a teacher, principal and superintendent of schools in Southwestern Iowa. August 11, 1940, she married Harlan Keith Walter and the couple raised their daughter, Dianne in Moline, Ill. When Harlan retired in 1969 they passed through Wickenburg to say hello to childhood friends from Iowa who owned the Wickenburg Sun. They fell in love with the town and never left. Along with intriguing stories form a long and varied life. Eloise will be remembered for her avid bridge playing, seemingly endless energy and involvement in community organizations. Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, brother and husband. She is survived by her daughter Dianne, son-in-law Pete, a cousin and two nephews. A celebration of life will be held at Los Caballeros Golf Club Wednesday, April 10 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to two of Eloise's favorite organizations: the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts or the Desert Caballeros Western Museum. See Also: Find A Grave |
