| Arizona Republic (Phoenix, Arizona) Monday, March 1, 1948, p. 5 Retired UCLA Dean, 81 Years Old, Dies Los Angeles, Feb. 29--(AP) Charles Henry Rieber, 81 years old, dean emeritus of Pacific Palisades yesterday. Professor Rieber taught philosophy of religion and was dean 15 years before his retirement in 1936. He was born near Placerville, Calif., in 1866 of German immigrant parents. He was graduated from University of California and received his master's degree and doctorate of philosophy at Harvard. Survivors include his widow, Winifred; son, Frank Rieber, and daughter, Mrs. Ira Joralemon of New York, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Death came after a week-long illness from the flu. |
