| Arizona Republic (Phoenix, AZ) Saturday, January 3, 1948, p. 11 State Pioneer Dies At Mesa MESA, Jan. 2--Mrs. Julia Ellise Brizzee, member of a prominent Mesa pioneer family and resident of Arizona 66 years, died last night at her home here after a year's illness. She was 75 years old. A daughter of the late Don Carlos and Melissa Almera Johnson (sic: the last name Babbitt is missing), Mrs. Brizzee was born April 6, 1872, at Springlake, Utah. She was a life member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She is survived by two daughters, Miss Phyllis Brizzee and Mrs. Genevieve Emery, and six grandchildren, John and Carolyn Emery and Mrs. Shirley Brundage Knight, all of Mesa; Mrs. Jeanne Brundage Harbertson, Vallejo, Calif., Erven E. Brundage, jr., Salt Lake City, Utah; and James M. Brundage of Columbus, O.; four sisters, Mrs. Caroline Horne and Mrs. Grace M. Nicoll of Mesa, Mrs. Ada Ramsay of Richfield, Utah, and Mrs. Rosemary Standage of Salt Lake City, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral rites will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday from the Meldrum Mortuary with Bishop J. Wallace Bond of the Latter-Day Saints Mesa Third Ward officiating. Burial will be in Mesa Cemetery.
