Jenks returned Friday from a trip to Albuquerque where he was called by the sudden death of his father, a well known mining engineer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Albuquerque Journal (New Mexico) Wednesday, April 11, 1917, p. 2 William Jenks Dies Suddenly; Identified With Mining In West William Jenks, mining engineer, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at his home, 609 West Fruit avenue, at the age of 70 years. Mr. Jenks was at one time superintendent of the Washington mine, in the Cochiti district, Sandoval county, and at different times superintendent or general manager of other mining companies in New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado. He was one of the original members of the Mogollon Gold & Copper company and owned mining property in Mexico. Mr. Jenks was a member of the Western Association of Technical Chemists and Metallurgists and had been a member of the American Institute of Mining Engineers since 1887. He was recognized as an authority on economic geology. A native of England, Mr. Jenks came to the United States in 1876 and first made his home at St. Louis. He was born at Penn, Staffordshire, England, May 24, 1846. Mrs. Jenks, the widow, two sons, two daughters and five grandchildren survive. Two brothers and a sister live in England.
