Killing In Wade Gulch
Florencia Guenones, who has been working at the Dobler mine for some
time past, was shot and instantly killed by Rafael Auguayo last
Tuesday morning. It seems that when Guenones left Mexico a year ago
he took Mrs. Auguayo along with him, and Auguayo suddenly stepped out
from the bushes, gun in hand and ordered his victim to get down off
the wagon, which he did. After cussing him roundly Auguayo opened
fire, one shot taking effect in the forehead and another in the
breast, either one of which would have proved fatal. Word was
telephoned to Wickenburg and Ike Woods and a posse started out at
once, and although the search was continued until Wednesday noon no
trace of the murderer was found. It is said that Guenones expected
trouble as he had a revolver wrapped in a newspaper lying on the
wagon seat beside him, but was evidently too frightened to use it.
