Baker, age 86, resident of Dewey, Arizona, formerly a resident of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, died in Prescott, Arizona, on July 19, 2019. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at Mountain View Baptist Church in Dewey, Arizona, at 1 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Bill Patterson and Pastor Ed Imbierowicz will give a sermon. A light lunch reception will be held at following the ceremony. Interment will take place at Hilltop Cemetery in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, at a later date. Dolores was born in a log cabin on May 25, 1933, in Brevort Lake, Michigan, to Earl and Margaret (Tait) Christensen. She grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and her family moved to Detroit when she was a young girl. After living in Northern California and Florida, she and her husband, Stanley Prokop, moved to New Mexico in 1966 to assist her grandmother, who was a missionary to the Navajo people. She raised her six children there until moving to Pagosa Springs, Colorado, in 1979, where she owned a beauty shop in Pagosa Lakes. In 2003, she retired to Prescott Valley. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She loved painting, reading, attending church, teaching Sunday School, listening to music and playing games/cards. Dolores is survived by her husband, David, of Dewey, Arizona; and her six children: Daniel Buchanan of Citrus Heights, California; Debra Vitelli of Petaluma, California; Diane Gurule (Todd) Wohlert of Prescott, Arizona; David (Rita)Prokop of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; Dennis (Kathy) Prokop of Globe, Arizona; and Donald Prokop of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; and her two step-children: Robert (Patty) Couse-Baker of Sacramento, California; and Mark (Gracie) Baker of Round Rock, Texas. She is further survived by 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Christensen, Sr., in 1952, and Margaret (Tait) Keller in 1995; siblings, Renee Palmer in 2001; Marlene Bradshaw in 2009; and Earl Christensen, Jr. in 2013.
