| Published in Today's News-Herald on Sept. 24, 2019 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Mary Deon Knighton, 85, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 14, 2019. Deon was born Aug. 14, 1934 in Salt Lake City. Deon moved to Lake Havasu City in 1978. She worked in real estate for a short time and then as a controller for a local air conditioning company. Deon is preceded in death by her father Melvin Knighton, mother June Gregory, her beloved husband Lee J. Gilpatrick, daughter Barbara Balted, son Earl Brumley and grandson Danny Brumley. She is survived by two grandchildren Randi Brumley and Adrianne Brumley and six great- grandchildren Kaytlynne and Mickey Edwards, Dalton Brumley, Caleb and Grant Pogodzinski and Makala Johnson. She also leaves behind some very dear friends. Deon loved the lake and had many fond memories of boating with Lee and more recently her dear friend James (JR) Martin. Deon enjoyed life and was always caring and giving to those in need. She will be lovingly remembered for her strength, courage and perseverance through life that isn't always fair. Deon was one of a kind and her memories will be treasured in the lives of those who loved and knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lake Havasu City Humane Society. |
