Eleanore M. (Goelz) Johnson

Eleanore M. Johnson, 102, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2007
at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, NV; her home for the last seven
years. She was born on November 14, 1904 in Saint Louis, MO; to the
late Gottlieb and Augusta Goelz.

Eleanore moved to Los Angeles, CA; and worked as a typist in 1922 for
Von's Market until they merged with Safeway. She continued to work for
Safeway for 35 years as a bookkeeper.

Eleanor married Hal Johnson in 1934. Upon retirement from Safeway,
they opened a variety store for several years in Los Angeles and
eventually retired to Lake Havasu City, AZ; in 1969. With the passing
of her husband in 1972, she became very active as a volunteer, logging
9000 hours crocheting baby layettes for the San Diego Navy Auxiliary,
17 years with the "Hug-a-Bears", honorary member of the Telephone
Pioneers for 17 years, and 20 years with the Lake Havasu CB Club. She
play golf into her late 80's and bowled into her early 90's. Eleanore
was most proud of the beautiful wood plaque that she received from
then Governor of Nevada, Kenny Guinn, upon reaching 100 years.

Eleanore is survived by her nephews, Richard Logan and wife Sheryl of
Las Vegas, NV; Frank Goelz of Fresno, CA; and niece Ernestine Cafferty
of Johnson City, NY; along with many great nephews and nieces and many
dear friends, including Betty and Jerry Hollie and Yvonne and Jim Peal
of Lake Havasu City, AZ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her two brothers, Edward and Albert, and her sister
Marguerite.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.on Thursday, February
22, 2007 at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 9:00
a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2007, at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Words of
comfort and inspiration will be expessed by Rev. Carol Sheffield.

Burial will take place at Mountain View Cemetery in Kingman, AZ; later
that afternoon. Condolences and thoughts can be made to her family at
