| Arizona Republic (Phoenix, Arizona) Thursday, January 9, 1975, p. 13 Adelaide Tweed dies at age 101 Memorial services for Mrs. Adelaide M. Tweed, 101, who died Tuesday in Good Samaritan Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mercer Mortuary, 1541 E. Thomas Road, following private cremation. Mrs. Tweed had lived in several communities in Arizona as she was growing up. She once wrote guest editorials for The Arizona Republic and authored a book "Ollie Boley, the Moon Man," that was published when she was in her 80s. She was a member of the Mark Twain Society and took a lone three-month tour of Europe when she was 85-years-old. On the occasion of her 101st birthday she received a congratulatory letter from then Governor-elect Raul Castro. At the time of her death she had lived in Tucson for three years at 9153 E. Broadway. Survivors include her son, Dr. William Tweed, six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. See Also: Find A Grave |
