| The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Wednesday, December 4, 2019 David Marion Poyner Friday, December 11th, 1959 - Tuesday, November 26th, 2019 David Marion Poyner passed away Nov. 26, 2019, in Surprise. He was born in Jeffersonville, Ind., on Dec. 11, 1959, to Nera and Marion Poyner. David made his life’s work in the funeral business and while in Indiana would meet a funeral home owner in Wickenburg. It was through that connection he worked for Bob Frey and his funeral homes, eventually starting David’s Desert Chapel when Bob retired. For 25 years David served and cared for Wickenburg families and would travel most of Arizona. His legacy and funeral home will continue to serve with a loyal staff and family effort. David is survived by his wife Kimberly Poyner; brother Brent Poyner (Mary); sons Scott Poyner Connie), Corey Poyner (Kristen) and Nathan Poyner; and many, many friends he made along the way. A graveside service for family and friends will be held Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery on Kellis Road, followed by a celebration of life at 3 p.m. at the Wickenburg Elks Lodge at 112 N. Frontier St. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Elks Lodge for their charities would be welcome. Arrangements are being handled by our friends at Regency Mortuary in Sun City.
