Harlan Elmer Weissenborn of Aguila, age 91, passed away suddenly at Hospice of the Valley in Surprise on January 13, 2020. Harlan was born October 3, 1928 in Wauwatosa, WI, to Hilbert and Viola (Boettcher) Weissenborn. On May 26, 1951 he married Jean Mary Porter. They made their home in Milwaukee and had two children.

Harlan graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Beginning in 1957 Harlan's career as an aerospace engineer for General Motors took the family to Lancaster, CA (Edwards AFB), Alamogordo, NM (Holloman/White Sands Missile Range), Titusville, FL (Cape Canaveral Missile Range), and Santa Maria, CA (Vandenberg AFB). Harlan specialized in inertial guidance systems for missiles including the Regulus II, Matador and Mace, and the Titan II ICBM. Following an employer change to TRW Space Systems Group in Redondo Beach, CA, the family moved to Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, in 1966. Harlan worked as an engineering manager on electronics and telemetry systems for a variety of satellites for the Department of Defense and NASA. Harlan and Jean and their children were active with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Rancho Palos Verdes. In 1989 Harlan retired as deputy director of TRW Federal Systems Division, and he and Jean moved to Arizona, living in Wickenburg until their home was completed at Eagle Roost Airpark in Aguila in 1991.

Harlan received his private pilot license in 1973 and was an avid pilot. He also enjoyed the outdoors, back packing, travel, and music. He belonged to the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and was very active on the Eagle Roost Homeowners Association board of directors as well as serving as Elder, and President of the Congregation of Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Wickenburg. In 2006 Harlan was preceded in death by his loving wife Jean Mary Weissenborn who he missed dearly. He is survived by his two children, Lawrence Weissenborn of Forestville, CA, and Claudia Mullek (Ronald) of Entiat, WA, and many other loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 20, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wickenburg, at 1PM with a visitation 1 hour prior to services at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to your favorite charity in Harlan's honor are suggested by the family.
