Donald Allen Maher, a winter visitor in Wickenburg for the past 12 years, died in St. Luke's Hospital in Phoenix on Jan. 27. He was 78.

Born in Williamston, Michigan, Mr. Maher served as a law enforcement officer and was on the Public Service Commission for 20 years.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Lansing, Mi., the Elks, and the Masonic Lodge.

A memorial service was held on Jan. 29 at the Tempe Mortuary, in Tempe.

Survivors include his wife Flossie A. Maher, Mesa; three children, Marilyn Kliewer, Wickenburg, Margaret Peece, Connecticut, and Jack Hoover , Lansing, Michigan; three brothers, Lawrence, Detroit Lakes, Mn., Rolo, Lake City, Mi., and William, Safford, Az.; three sisters, Dorothy Atwater, Safford, Margaret Gubry, Williamston, Mi.; and Betty Hart, Weberville, Mi.; and 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
