Spiken November 16, 1948 - December 30, 2019 Henry Spiken, our Dad, was a loving and determined individual. For those that knew Henry would say he was hard working and loyal to friends and family. Henry was a husband to Katie, a son of Barney and Hazel and the youngest brother of Kaylene, John, Edward, Errol and Pamela. Henry was a father to four children: Lisa, John, Damian and Cindy, an uncle to Normie and was also a grandfather to Brett, Brianna, Emilee, Brittney, Brandon, Dylan, Chelsea, Hayden and a Great Grandfather to Aurora and Kynan. As kids, a backyard game of cricket with Dad was always entertaining with his beloved cockatoo Joey as the umpire always singing, "John, You're out!" which would give dad no end of pleasure hearing. He also enjoyed a game of golf, especially with his best mate Mick who would always find himself stripped down to his undies at some stage looking for lost golf balls in the dams. Henry was a knowledgeable mechanic with a love for motor vehicles. He loved the Mini, both early and later versions. From his young rebellious years he loved to race. Be it motor bike or dirt track racing. He helped build the first Warrnambool Speedway. His modified cars were always put to the test. He never like to go slow. Henry still enjoyed go cart racing in his elder years whenever he had the chance. His greatest passions include being NASCAR's Jimmy Johnsons number 1 fan. He would try to get to as many race meetings as possible. He had a large collection of memorabilia which Katie can surely vouch for. He had a love for Country Music. He helped craft a CD for Slim Whitman and helped organize an Australian Tour. He helped Australian singers Jean Stafford and Hayne Horsburgh promote their music. With his love for music he helped other fans worldwide connect to share the joy of music. His enthusiastic passion for horse racing led him to giving harness racing a go. He attained his trainer and driver's license and raced his beloved horse Dixie Song. These memories will live on in our hearts forever. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Our minds are at ease know he will be with our sister Cindy, his parents and his late brother John. We know he will love seeing his dog Snowy and Missy again he sorely missed. |
