Arizona Republic (Phoenix, Arizona) Saturday, June 26, 1976, p. C-6 Ted R. Wood, 69, dies; Wickenburg ex-official WICKENBURG--Services for Ted R. Wood, 69, who died June 17 in Tokyo while on a tour, will be at 10 a.m. today in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mr. Wood had been a resident of Wickenburg since 1940, when he opened Ted's Café. He began work in the food service business at the age of 12 and later worked as a meat cutter for a supermarket chain. He had served on the Wickenburg Town Council for many years, including a term as vice mayor. He served on the Wickenburg Parks Board and spearheaded the development of local recreational facilities and planning for the community center. Mr. Wood was a charter member of the Desert Caballeros riding group and sponsored the local high school athletic banquet for many years. Survivors include his wife Freeda; children, Teddy R., and Judy Barbee; a brother; four sisters; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
