"Mabel Elizabeth Turman Mabel Elizabeth Turman, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at her home in Elfrida, Arizona. Mabel was born in Bisbee, Arizona on March 26, 1914, to Emol Johnson and Hulda Benson Johnson. She was raised and educated in Bisbee. Mabel was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Her enjoyment was camping, dancing, bird watching and needle craft. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband Sam Turman on March 23, 1993; her daughter Shirley Nicholson in June of 2003; 2 sisters Ruth Poree and Edna Welander ; 1 brother Carl Johnson and her parents. Survivors include her son and his wife Robert and Peggy Turman of Safford, her daughter Mildred McGinty of Elfrida, her nephew whom she raised as a son Ira "Jiggs" Gibbons and his wife Joyce of California; 1 son in law James Nicholson of lake Montezuma, AZ; 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church in Elfrida. Private burial will be held at a later date at the McNeal cemetery all arrangements are being handled by Dugan funeral chapel. |
