| Ruffner-Wakelin Prescott Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory Dennis R. Doom Prescott, Arizona May 19, 1947 - September 19, 2020 Dennis Roy Doom, age 73, passed away on Sept 19, 2020 in Prescott, AZ, less than 2 months after the passing of oldest brother Dan Doom of Wickenburg. A man of quiet but great character, Dennis had a loving relationship with family and made an impact on many other lives. Born in Phoenix May 19, 1947, the son of Samuel and Esther Doom. Dennis grew up in Congress and was a 1965 graduate of Wickenburg High School where he participated in football and baseball. He was also a graduate of ASU and later held positions as Accountant and Controller in several Phoenix firms. In 1994 he started a family retail business called Active Mobility in Phoenix providing mobility equipment for senior citizens and the handicapped. This business expanded into four retail outlets with several employees which he continued to operate until retirement and his sons have continued to follow in this profession. Dennis married his high school sweetheart, Cheryll Bodiroga of Wickenburg, who predeceased him in 2006. He is survived by two sons, Brandon and Carson Doom and six grandchildren as well as his partner of 11 years Cecelia Plantek (Cissy). Due to Covid restrictions, there will only be a private service held for immediate family. ~~~ Dennis was the most amazing Business Man that I have ever known! Dennis moved to Phoenix after graduation and put himself thru college. Cheryll also relocated to Phoenix and went to Durham Business college and worked for Valley National Bank. Dennis & Cheryll met in high school and were married May 28, 1971 for 35 years. Together for 40 years. Cheryll became a Catholic to be able to marry Dennis in the Catholic Church. Mom made Cheryll’s wedding dress and veil which was the most beautiful dress I had ever seen. Dennis had a very good job for many years & decided to go into a business for himself. They purchased their business on 04/25/1994 located on 2035 W. Glendale Avenue and named it Active Mobility and grew it to three locations. Last location was the largest they had. Cheryll worked there during her cancer treatments to teach Dennis & I think Don Doom how to do everything she had been doing for years. Very successful! They felt really good about their business because they were able to help so many people. All of their homes were out of this world beautiful! They decorated them together and did all the work purchasing and arranging every detail in their new homes. They were all so very beautiful & inviting while reflecting Dennis and Cheryll’s taste. Dennis & Cheryll’s love for each other was tremendous and they always supported each other thru everything. They worked together in their businesses and loved each other’s families & friends. Very successful in everything they did together. Their miracle twins arrived on August 12, 1975 ~ Brandon came first & then Carson. The Doctor was so excited he just charged for one birth. Their small family was complete. Brandon & Carson grew up in a loving stable family. When they started school they went to Grace Christian Academy where Dennis did the accounting for the Church. They loved to play soccer and were very good!! Highlights in Cheryll & Dennis’ lives were when they welcomed their grand babies. Brandon & Jackie blessed them with 3 grandchildren, Chase, Ryan and Amber. They loved being grandparents. Carson & Cindy married after Cheryll died and have 3 children Charli, Elizabeth & Matthew. Grandpa Dennis was blessed again with more grandchildren & Cheryll would be so very proud of all of them. Cheryll did tell me if she does not make it thru the cancer she wants Dennis to find someone to share his life with. Dennis has gone home to be with Jesus and is reunited with the love of his life Cheryll, his parents Sam & Esther, Brothers Sam & Daniel and sister Lottie and many other family members and friends. What a glorious reunion for all of them. Bodiroga & Penrod side of family: Dennis, you touched all of my family more than you can imagine ~ Grandpa Mart, Dolley & Obren, Dot & Obie, Holly, Brian & Chris, Myself, Michael & Shawna, Mark & Shawna, Zach, Marquee, Seth, Abby & Alex and many more and will never be forgotten.
