Monte Wanamaker, a 31-year resident of Lake Havasu City, passed away
on Dec. 31, 2020 due to a long illness he had battled valiantly. He
was 87 years old.

He had a distinguished career as a captain for the Los Angeles Fire
Department for 33 years and was also a United States Navy Veteran.

Monte had a wonderful childhood on a farm in Kansas, headed west early
in life and married a California girl, Sandy Harris of Downey,
California. His Havasu roots were planted by his mother and father who
were early homeowners as Havasu pioneers. This led him to being an
avid fisherman and boater, often joined by his family.

Monte was an avid golfer and ultra-active in local golf organizations,
serving as a marshal for years at London Bridge Country Club. His lust
for travel allowed he and Sandy, his wife of 65 years, to organize and
lead a motorhome owners club named The Havasu Ramblers. The group
traveled the United States, usually spending the summer months in Show
Low.

He will be missed by many as he was a man who was always ready to help
a friend or spend the day on the London Bridge Golf Course,
competitively.

Monte is survived by his wife Sandra, sons Jeffrey and Michael of
Redondo Beach, California and Cory of Norwalk, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Faye Wanamaker,
sisters Jerry Jackson and Debra Simpson.

Cared for by Bradbury Memorial Center.
