Her life, her strength, her wisdom was vibrant. Her strong-willed
spirit provided balance and honesty to all who were blessed to know
her. Michelle Lynn Johnson was a devoted wife, mother, sister,
daughter, and friend. Born January 20th 1975, Michelle Lynn Johnson
was the outspoken daughter of her mother Gevern Begay, her father
Herbert Billah and her aunt Cecilia Bennett. She was the sixth child,
her siblings being Geradine Johnson, Pamala Johnson, Debbie Maloney
(deceased), Raymond Maloney Jr., Darrell Maloney (deceased), Venita
Begay (deceased), Treva Begay and Jeremiah Yazzie .

She was a confident Navajo Native American woman born of Ma’ii
Deeshgiizhinii (Coyote Pass People). Michelle dedicated her life to
her only daughter Odessa Wauneka and her late husband Lorenzo Wauneka
who she loved dearly. Her hard working, independent soul added
guidance to those who loved her. She honored family and friendship
above all else.

Michelle aka Stubbies was a fearless woman who saw obstacles as
opportunities. The moment she was born in Tuba City Arizona she
strived to work in Administrative Business and became captivated
working in Education. She graduated from Tuba City High School and
went on to earn a degree in Business Administration at Northern
Arizona University and gained an Associates in Liberal Arts at Dine
College. She understood the importance of education and encouraged her
students, family, and loved ones to continue their learning. As a
confident woman and as a mother, Michelle was a role model to many.

As a hard core Yankees fan Michelle coached softball at Greyhills High
School, Tuba City Junior High and volunteered at Tuba City Boarding
School. She was passionate about the outdoors and appreciated British
history. She participated in hiking, running marathons, fishing,
camping and endlessly enjoyed victorian dramas. On her days off,
Michelle would be running, watching Netflix, hanging out with her many
friends, or simply taking photos of her beloved dachshund Tuscany. She
had a laugh and smile that was contagious. She was beautiful and well
rounded. She continuously supported her Navajo Native American
traditions and inspired those around her to live a healthy lifestyle
by leading with example.

She wasn’t perfect, but she wasn’t a quitter. Michelle did everything
in her power to be the best mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend
she could be. Her resilient spirit was full of wisdom and strength. On
January 2nd 2021 she was reunited with her late husband Lorenzo
Wauneka ‘Ran’. She was living in Lake Havasu City, Arizona working
towards a career in Human Resources at the Indian Health Services. She
ran everyday by the London Bridge lake and frequently traveled for
work visiting new exciting Native American reservations. As the new
year of 2021 rose above the horizon she left this world. Michelle
spent forty five years on this earth developing connections, skills,
and living life to the fullest. She will be deeply missed by all. We
love you Michelle.
