| Published in Mohave Daily News Online from Feb. 14 to Feb. 16, 2021 - Bullhead City, Arizona - William "Bill" Joseph Dunn, age 78, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at WARMC in Bullhead City, Ariz. Bill was born to Jack and Rita Dunn in Chicago, Ill. on June 27, 1942 along with his identical twin Michael. Bill grew up in Chicago and after high school graduation he and his brother joined the United States Marine Corps in April 1961. He was honorably discharged on April 9, 1965. Bill always said, "Once a Marine, always a Marine". He was very proud of his brothers Mike and Kevin, his son Matthew and grandson Justin for serving the U.S. Marine Corps, and his grandson Jake for serving in the U.S. Air Force. Bill met his wife and soulmate Cheryl Swain while he was stationed in Hawaii and she was on vacation in July of 1963. They were married in San Bernardino, Calif. on July 11, 1964. They moved to Camp Lejune, N.C. to finish out Bill's enlistment. After being discharged they lived in San Bernardino where Andrea was born in 1966 and then in Chicago where Patricia was born in 1969. In March of 1969 they moved to Needles, Calif. so he could start work with the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1972 his son Matthew was born. Bill worked for the railroad for 34 years and retired in 2003. Bill made many wonderful lifelong friends while working for the railroad. After a short time of retirement Bill and Cheryl went to work for Palo Verde Nuclear Plant in Tonopah, Ariz. They worked two outages a year and for eight years made many wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Rita Dunn; sister, Jacqueline McMahon; and brother, Kevin Dunn. Bill is survived by his wife, Cheryl to whom he was married 56 1/2 years; his children, Andrea (Jimmy) Wade, Patsy (Manuel) Calderon and Matt (Sandra) Dunn; his twin brother, Michael (Ruth Ann) Dunn of Burlington, Wis.; brothers, James (Sheri) of Inver Grove Heights, Minn. and John (Debbie) Dunn of Trenton, Fla.; brother-in-law, Bill Swain; sister-in-law, Susan Swain of Needles, Calif.; his beloved grandchildren, Jake (Leticia) Acuna, Justin Acuna, Kaylee, Calderon, Cameron Calderon, William Dunn and Ryan Dunn; his great-grandchildren, Krisofer, Emiliano, and Mia Acuna; and one great-granddaughter on the way. Bill loved his family and all the wonderful friends he made over the years of his life and he will surely be missed. A celebration of life service will be held later at Calvary Church of Needles when it is safe to meet together. His desire was for a Christian service. The time and date will be announced. |
