| Published in The Arizona Republic from Mar. 9 to Mar. 10, 2021 - Phoenix, Arizona - Thor Stanley Norland, 96, of Scottsdale, passed away on March 4 at 96. He served in the Navy during World War 2. He married his childhood sweetheart Mary Jane Ryan in 1947 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He moved to Arizona in 1960 and founded Norland Mattress Company manufacturing premium bedding. Everyone who ever met him had nothing but good to say about him - he had a heart of gold and was so generous with everyone. He was preceded in death by two sons, Lee and Jim, also his wife Mary. He is survived by a daughter Linda Romberg, son Steven Norland and grandson Justin Norland. He also leaves behind a special lady that he treasured, Nancy Crowell. There will be a mass at St. Daniel's Catholic Church on March 12th at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers please donate to Hospice of the Valley or St. Daniel's |
