He was born on October 21, 1933 in Ottumwa, Iowa and was the 4th of 5 children. John was a gifted athlete with baseball being his favorite sport. John left Iowa to join the Army and after an honorable discharge became a long haul truck driver. He loved travel, seeing new places and enjoyed his nightly "no-see-thru" cocktail. He was an avid collector of anything unique at the yard sale. He worked for Chambers Mayflower in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area for most of his career as a driver and warehouse manager. After retiring, he spent as much time as possible at his cabin in Munds Park, AZ and fishing with the grandkids at Lake O'Dell. John is preceded in death by his parents, Hessel and Faith Peters, wife Helen Peters and 4 siblings. He is survived by his sister Marilyn Green, his first wife, loving companion and friend Marita Greene, his step-children Jeanette Rogers, Sandy (Charles) Brunk and Rick Work, 6 grandchildren and many great grandchildren nieces and nephews. In honoring John's wishes, there will be no formal service. His ashes will be buried at the Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott Arizona with a family gathering at a later date.
