| Published in Mohave Daily News Online on Mar. 17, 2021 - Bullhead City, Arizona - Daniel Albert Beasley "Ranger Dan", age 72, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021. He was born April 21, 1948 to Delbert Beasley, Sr. and Jeanne Egelhaaf at March Air Force Base in San Bernardino, California. He loved his big brother, Delbert Jr. and later his younger sisters, Debra and Julie. The family further expanded to four additional foster brothers: Charles, Stan, Lee and Billy Singleton. Around 1958, Dan's family moved to Benton, California, an extremely small community in the Sierra foothills near the city of Bishop. Young Dan graduated 8th grade from the one-room schoolhouse in Benton. He went on to play first string high school football for Bishop High School where he was nicknamed "The Stubby Blaster" by local news reporters. Dan played college football for Antelope Valley Junior College in Antelope Valley, California where he majored in History and Physical Education. However, life offered him a fork in the road and he took it in the form of a Ranger I position at Moabi Regional Park in Needles, California in 1972. He worked as a Park Ranger for San Bernardino County for his entire career, retiring after 36 years in 2008. His life changed forever one fateful day in the summer of 1974 when a cute and elusive brunette with the beehive hairdo to end all hairdo's spent time at the park that summer with her family. Two months later, Dan convinced Jenny Adams to elope to Las Vegas, Nevada on October 8, 1974. As newlyweds, Dan and Jenny settled into his trailer in Park Moabi. Jenny brought along her horse and before long they had several more horses. Jenny loved to barrel race and Dan loved to team rope. They each competed in the Mohave Valley Riding Club, the Mohave County fair and the Needles Rodeo in the 70's, 80's and early 90's. Dan became the President of the Mohave Valley Riding club during the 80's and served for many years. In the interest of fund raising for the Needles Rodeo one year, Dan, with the help of his best friend Dave Evans, rode his horse into the Red Dog Saloon on main street in Needles during Rodeo Days and threatened to throw everyone in "jail" who didn't have a rodeo button. A record setting amount of money was raised that year selling rodeo buttons. Horses were a pivotal feature in Dan's life. He was extremely proud of his horses and bred exceptional Appaloosas and then Quarter Horses and Paints. He was a professional farrier and served the tri-state horse community for many decades. He also took in horses to train for people as a side business and was always interested in learning new training techniques. Dan was an active member of the Needles Seventh-day Adventist church in Needles, California where he served as a Deacon and then an Elder. In 1981, Dan and Jenny were blessed with the birth of Brenda, their first daughter. Then, two years later, Casie also arrived. Dan was a very proud father and was extremely active in his kids' lives. Dan served as a volunteer fire fighter for the Park Moabi branch of the Needles Fire Department for over a decade. He responded to hundreds of medical emergencies, vehicular and boat accidents and wildfires. After his retirement from San Bernardino County, Dan obtained his CDL and run belly dump semi-trucks and heavy equipment in Arizona and then North Dakota for several years. He eventually decided to retire full time in Yucca, Arizona with Jenny and keep his orchard and his greenhouse fully operating. Dan and Jenny welcomed their first grandchildren, Davis and Jacob in 2009 and then Deacon in 2014 and Cody in 2018. As Jenny became a professional quilter, Dan took up quilting as a hobby himself. He was an active member of the Colorado River Quilters' Guild since 2018. He took great pride in his handicrafts but also loved mingling with the fellow quilters and sharing his Apple Pandouti recipe. Dan is survived by his wife of over 46 years, Jenny Beasley; his children, Brenda Ellis and Casie Sottosanto; his grandchildren, Davis Sottosanto, Deacon Sottosanto, Jacob Ellis and Cody Ellis; siblings Delbert Beasley Jr., Debra Payne and Julie Hayes; and his foster brother, Billy Singleton. Dan lived a full and adventurous life, passing to rest in the Lord on February 26, 2021 at 72 years of age. Services were held at Needles Seventh-day Adventist church for closest family and friends on March 5, 2021. Each day was a gift and we will treasure them always. |
