| Published in Mohave Daily News Online on Mar. 26, 2021 - Bullhead City, Arizona - Douglas Lutz, age 78, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021, after a valiant battle against cancer. He was born July 7, 1942 in North Dakota. Doug married his wife, Margaret in 1961. He attended Valley City State Teachers' College and North Dakota State University. Seeking a warmer climate, Doug brought his family to Bullhead City in 1971. He became the principal of the new Bullhead City Junior High and was the Superintendent of the Bullhead City School District for 25 years. After retiring, Doug served as Bullhead City's Public Works Director where he helped design and develop Rotary Park. Recently, Doug served on the Bullhead City School Board. Doug was preceded in death by his parents; and his older brother, Gary. Doug is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons, Todd (Susan) and Troy (Jessica); daughter, Sheri (Peter); brother, Lowell (Lona); two sisters, Sandy (John) and Patty (Don); nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many friends. A gathering of friends will be held in late spring and a memorial bench will be placed in the Rotary Park to commemorate Doug's love for and service to the community.
