| Published in Today's News Herald on Mar. 31, 2021 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Viola Betty Vaughn was born Sept. 19, 1925 and passed away March 28, 2021. Her parents were Karl and Vera Paulsen, who emigrated to the U.S. from Denmark. Betty was born in Brooklyn, and spent her teenage years there, she even worked on her uncles tug boat. The family relocated to California where Betty met the love of her life, Dewey Vaughn. They were married in 1945. Dewey was an engineer for the U.S. Government. He worked in the oil fields in Saudi Arabia and on the Alaskan Pipeline. Betty lived in Alaska twice and also in Saudi Arabia. They settled in Las Vegas for many years. Betty had many friends. They never had children but Betty rescued man animals, including a chipmunk and a roadrunner, she loved cats, dogs, and horses. They moved to Lake Havasu, and Dewey passed away there. Betty was predeceased by her parents Vera and Karl Paulsen, her Aunts, Rita and Ellen, and Uncle Charlie. Her brother Bob, who lived in the pacific rim with his second wife. Betty has a nephew Randy Harmsen (Bob's son), a goddaughter Sonja Jones and Bryan Russell, and many friends. She had a beautiful outlook on life and a dynamic spirit. The bluest eyes ever seen!
