Elaine Magie, 95, went to see Jesus peacefully March 25, 2021.
She fought the degrading battle of dementia for many years. Elaine was
born on Feb 21, 1926 to Gary Cecil and Edna Doris Brown and raised in
Great Bend, Kansas.
Elaine could accomplish anything she could set her mind to. She
acquired her Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics at KSU (Kansas State
University) and started her teaching career, in a one room school
house in Kansas. She lived on a wheat farm in Great Bend, Kansas while
being a hard working wife and mother of three children. In 1964 she
moved to West Covina, California with her family. Elaine started
teaching with Azusa Unified School District while raising her three
children and putting herself through additional schooling. She
attended Azusa Pacific and CSU (Cal State) where she earned her
visually handicapped and special education certificates. She taught
from 1964 to 1997 and then was a substitute teacher for about three
years. She loved her students and it was very hard for her to retire.
She touched many people’s hearts along her journey.
Elaine was an active member of The Community Presbyterian Church in
West Covina, California for over 50 years. She enjoyed line dancing,
antiquing, socializing, church activities, silver sneakers, and had a
love for all animals.

grandchildren Jason, Tanya, and Malena; four great grandchildren.
