| Published in Mohave Daily News Online from Apr. 25 to Apr. 27, 2021 - Bullhead City, Arizona - Willard "Bill" D. Allen, age 90, a Bullhead City, Arizona resident passed away peacefully in his home that he shared with his long-time loving companion, Florence Cooke by his side on Sunday, November 8, 2020. Bill was born at home in Kendrick, Colorado to Clifford and Gladys Allen and was raised on a farm near Tructon, Colorado with his nine siblings. Bill attended and graduated from Tructon School, a small country school for students from grades 1-12. He participated in basketball, baseball and track at which he excelled. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Lee (Griffith) on August 3, 1947. They had two children, Carolyn Dee and Rodney Eugene. Bill worked for Coca Cola Co. in Colorado Springs until moving to Pueblo where he worked in construction for an uncle for several years. He then moved back to Colorado Springs where he owned and operated W.D. Allen Construction Co. for many years until retirement. He later moved to Arizona where he loved golfing and also met and married Colleen Wilson on July 4, 1997. W.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Glayds Allen; daughter, Carolyn Dee (Byerly); a sister, Opal (Baker) Windsar; a brother, Norman Kent Allen and his wife Colleen (Allen). W.D. is survived by his long-time loving companion, Florence Cooke of Bullhead City, Arizona; son, Rodney Allen of Colorado Springs, Colorado; siblings, Iris Miller, Belle Brown, Jack Allen, Betty Freeman, Lavon Jones, Kay Eastep and Ila Green; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; in-laws; and friends. A Celebration of Life followed by a potluck will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Riverview RV Clubhouse at 2000 E. Ramar Rd., Bullhead City, Arizona. Later in June, there will be a memorial service at Memorial Gardens in Colorado Springs, Colorado at his final resting place.
