Allen Edward Berke was born April 1, 1944 in Los Angeles. His early
years were spent in Glendale until 1954 when the family went to work
in South America where they learned to appreciate different cultures
and customs.

Allen returned to Glendale to complete his high school education,
graduating from Glendale High School in 1963. He continued his
education, majoring in technical and vocational education and
receiving teaching credentials in California and Oregon. From 1974
until 1989, he was an instructor of graphic arts and communication at
La Cañada High School in California. In addition to teaching, he and
his dad, Ed Berke (also a printer by trade), established "Pronto
Printers" in La Cañada.

When his father passed away and his mother Hilda moved to Pendleton,
Oregon, to be closer to her daughter and family, Allen decided to make
a move also to enjoy some family time. In Pendleton, he often
substituted in the local schools, and was active in the Model A Ford
club.

He always had a mechanical talent, and could repair just about
anything that needed attention. Cars were his specialty. He and his
dad lovingly restored a 1931 Model A Ford pickup which won prizes at
antique automobile shows where they exhibited it, offering rides to
admirers.

Some of his former teaching associates urged him to join them in Lake
Havasu, and when his mother passed away in 2003. Allen decided to move
to Lake Havasu City and a warmer climate. He resided there until his
death on March 22, 2021, working at local businesses, notably
Albertsons.

He had a fondness for birds, and had two small parrots which were
great companions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Hilda Berke. He is
survived by his sister Carole Guenther and her husband Don, nephews
Michael, Tim, Glen, and Jeff and their families, cousin Elaine
Baldwin, and affectionate avian pet Bindi.

He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends and
associates who were so kind and supportive during his illness.
