| Published by Arizona Daily Sun on May 5, 2021 - Flagstaff, Arizona - Rosie Almendarez Garcia, 87, passed away on May 1, 2021. Rosie was born on April 21, 1934 to Pedro and Rachel Almendarez in Flagstaff, AZ at her home on West Coconino. The house was located above Old Town Springs Plaza Vieja. Her family had settled there since 1890. Our mom Rosie enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved dancing, loved talking about her childhood and showing people her drawings and pictures. When asked, she would talk about the history of Flagstaff. She was very fortunate to have been interviewed as a historian by NAU. Rosie had love for all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Juan C. Garcia, parents Pedro and Rachel Almendarez, two daughters Joan Dorothy Garcia and Judy Ann Baca; grandson Edde Lozano and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by four children Barbara Jean Gill (Jose), Rosalee Garcia (Edward), Genevieve Garcia and Juan Garcia (Darby); two son-in- laws Julian Garcia and Larry Baca. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 5th from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. at Lozano's Flagstaff Mortuary. The funeral will be private due to Covid restrictions, but it will be available for viewing at youtube@sfdaflagstaff. The family would like to thank Hospice Compassus for all the wonderful care they gave to Rosie. |
