| Published by Arizona Daily Sun on May 19, 2021 - Flagstaff, Arizona - Robin Kay Shifler Ferguson peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 25th, 2021 at the Olivia White Hospice Home, surrounded by her loved ones, after a courageous battle with an aggressive brain cancer. Robin was born on January 29th, 1957 to Robert Kyle Shifler and Mary Ellen (Hickey) Shifler in Exeter, New Hampshire. Robin's father's entire career was with the United States Air Force, providing Robin with various educational and social experiences. Upon his retirement in 1968, the family chose to live in Flagstaff, where they were reunited with several extended family members from the maternal side. This also allowed Robin to graduate from Coconino High School in 1975, followed by continual studying at Northern Arizona University. Robin loved spending time with her family and friends usually at Starlite Lanes. She was an avid bowler throughout her youth and into her mid adulthood, and was inducted into the Flagstaff Bowling Hall of Fame due to her accomplishments. Robin's greatest pleasure came from watching her daughter Sara and her nieces and nephew in any activities they were involved in. Robin was a huge sports enthusiast and although she loved watching any and all sports Robin was a diehard Oakland Raider, Baltimore Orioles and Kansas Jayhawk fan along with her NAU Lumberjacks. Robin absolutely loved being a mom, grandma, sister, aunt and cousin. We know she will always be looking down watching over her family. Robin was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Mary Ellen (Hickey) Shifler. She is survived by her daughter, Sara Collum (Clayton), and her newest love of her life, her grandson, Jayden Collum, her sister and best friend, Lori Sauer (Robert), three nieces, Kayla Sauer, Kristen Sauer, Jaycie Sauer, and one nephew, Kyle Sauer. She will be cremated and her interment will be at the Flagstaff Citizen's Cemetery on May 22nd, 2021 at 2:30pm during an informal gravesite ceremony, followed by a reception at the VFW. Per Robins wishes, please dress casual (jeans and your favorite sports team.) In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to: Ivy Brain Tumor Center at Barrows Neurological Foundation; American Brain Tumor Association or the American Cancer Society. See Also: Find A Grave |
