"Virgil Robert Messer was born in Elton, Wisconsin on 10/11/1926 to
Robert Messer and Ida (Boyd) Messer, and is the last of 10 brothers
and one of two sisters. He is survived by his five children: Mike,
Connie, Linda, Terry and Diane, his sister Lyda Mae Davis, and 13
grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great
grandchildren.

Virgil is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Messer, grandsons
Michael and Shane, and his daughter-in-law JoAnn Messer.

Virgil was a strong willed, intelligent man who had an extraordinary
gift for fixing things which served him well throughout his life as a
mechanic. He had a great mind for military tactics that made him
indispensable in the Army during WWII. He had a pioneering spirit that
led him to Lake Havasu City, AZ in 1968. He was instrumental in
building this town from its infancy. He was the head of the Full
Gospel Business Men’s Association for several years. He donated his
time repairing buildings and equipment for his church and any needy
individuals that came his way. Hard work was second nature to him and
he never shied away from problems and obstacles. His powers of
concentration were simply amazing. He fought with courage to keep his
body under submission to complete any task at hand. He taught us how
to work and to be fair minded, having impeccable integrity in dealing
with others. You will be missed until that glorious day when we meet
again in the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ."
