| Published in The Arizona Republic from May 26 to May 27, 2021 - Phoenix, Arizona - Diana Fraser Seamans, 99, of New London, NH, died Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at her home. She was born in Cambridge, MA September 15, 1921, daughter of the late Prof. Cecil Eaton Fraser and Esther Stevens Fraser Brazer, widow of James Otis Seamans, sister of the late Constance Fraser of Berkeley, CA, mother of Richard and Eleanor Seamans of Harvard, MA, the late Jane Swan and David of Cary, NC, grandmother of James and Josee of Fredrickton, New Brunswick, Canada, Katherine and Alex Robertson of Dallas, TX, Timothy and Katherine of Franklin, MA, great grandmother of Nicholas and Eva Seamans of Canada and Penelope and Samuel Seamans of Franklin, MA and Juliana Robertson of Dallas, TX. She attended Buckingham, Wheeler and Beaver Country Day Schools and Radcliffe College, graduating BA magna cum laude in 1943. She served as a Navy WAVE Ensign "Code Breaker" during WWII in Communications in Washington, DC, attended Salem College, Winston-Salem, NC, Lesley College for her MA, and Arizona State University, certified under the Institute for Reality Therapy, Los Angeles and taught for fifty four years as an Academic Therapist and Learning Specialist in public and independent schools and clinics in North Carolina, Massachusetts and Arizona as an advocate for gifted dyslexics of all ages. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, PEO, The International Dyslexia Association, Institute for Reality Therapy, OSHER at Dartmouth and Adventures in Learning at Colby-Sawyer College. Diana was a former member of the Elections Committee of PBK at Radcliffe, Board of Summer Music in New London, The Concord Music Club, Friends of Music, Friends of the Libraries, and The Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Arizona State University. She was a lifelong student of Medieval and Renaissance Literature, Music, Art and Architecture. She studied poetry writing under Ruth Whitman and memoir writing under Dr. Joseph Medlicott. Diana served for 20 years as a licensed lay reader and chalice bearer at Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church in Scottsdale, AZ. She was a former member of the Junior League of Winston-Salem, NC and Boston, MA and the Concord Country Club. Along the way she designed and supervised the construction of three houses and their gardens, one in Winston- Salem and two in Concord, MA. She summered in New London, NH for 40 years and retired there fulltime in 2004. A memorial service will be held on July 22, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at The First Baptist Church, 461 Main Street, New London, NH.
