Julie Linn Brooks, 57, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2020 in
Gilbert, AZ. Julie was born and grew up in Kansas City, MO, and
graduated from Park Hill High School in 1980. She was a natural
athlete and participated in numerous sports, earning top honors in
both basketball and track and field. Julie married her high school
sweetheart, Ken, the same year. The couple moved to Yuma, AZ, courtesy
of the U.S. Marine Corps in 1983. Not long afterward, Julie and Ken
were blessed with the arrival of their son, Justin.

Julie worked many years at the Yuma Fire Department, as well as the
Yuma Police Department, before retiring in 2013.

She was the funniest, most vibrant, charismatic person. She lived an
intentional life, leaving a positive impression on everyone she met.
She was an eternal bright light and a beautiful soul. Julie made
everyone's lives so much better simply by being her goofy, fun-loving
self! She would be the first to dance or crack a joke simply to
lighten the mood. No gathering of people was ever the same after
experiencing the positive energy emitted by Julie's presence!

In the words of her son, If the measure of a person's life is the
number of smiles they produced, then she surely had as much impact on
the world as anyone.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, John H. Kroenke II, and
brother-in-law, Larry A. Brooks.

She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Ken Brooks, of
Queen Creek, AZ; her son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Nicole
Brooks; and her grandson, Weston Brooks, all of Gilbert, AZ. She is
also survived by her mother, Judie Kroenke; four siblings, John
(Ginger) Kroenke; Jill (Don) Thessen; Janice Kroenke; and Jackie (Ben)
Cooper, all of Kansas City, MO, and her parents-in-law, Bob and Golda
Brooks, of Yuma, AZ; sister-in-law Deborah Barela of Plains, MT, and
numerous nieces and nephews.

Julie will be profoundly missed.

A celebration of life service will be held at First United Methodist
Church of Gilbert, 331 S. Cooper Road, Gilbert, Arizona on Saturday 5
June 2021 at 1:30 pm.
