| Published in Yuma Sun on May 30, 2021 - Yuma, Arizona - Mrs. Catherine Jean CJ Cook, age 65, of Yuma, AZ, passed away unexpectedly on November 12th 2020. She was born July 30, 1955, in Omaha, Nebraska, a daughter of the late Ralph and Shirley Wever. CJ is survived by her husband Jerry of Yuma, AZ; one daughter and son- in-law Christina Garnier (Jeremy) of Goodyear, AZ; two step-sons, Mike Cook of Virginia and David Cook of Texas; three grandchildren, Isaac Garnier, Constance Garnier, and Caydance Garnier; as well as many other family and friends who will miss her dearly. After honorably serving for 23 years, CJ retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. Following her retirement, CJ spent time as a caregiver, volunteer at the Elks lodge, and also as a contractor/manager for a local management company. More recently, CJ enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, watching John Wayne movies, and testing her luck at the local casino. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, June 5th at the American Legion Post #19 in Yuma, AZ. *Please wear purple as it was CJ's favorite color.
