Doris Emily (Haight) Vickery

Lake Havasu City, Arizona -

Doris Emily Vickery, 100 years of age, passed away on Friday, June 25,
2021 at The Grand of Batavia care facility. Doris was born May 26,
1921, in Cedar City, Utah, the daughter of Isaac Conrad Haight and
Emily Corry Haight, and the granddaughter of many Utah pioneers.

She went to work for Bell Telephone after graduating from high school
and continued in this profession until her retirement from Verizon in
1978. She was "Miss Voice and Courtesy" for AT&T in 1966.

Doris met her husband, Robert K. Vickery, during World War II in 1943,
in Salt Lake City, where Robert was stationed with the Army Air Corps.
They married after a whirlwind courtship and just before Robert was
sent overseas. After the war, they moved to Attica, New York, where
they raised their family. Doris was a member of the Attica
Presbyterian Church.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Maureen Dwyer,
her brother, Claude Dix, a baby daughter, her husband, Robert, her son
Richard, her grandson Mark Buckenmeyer, and her daughter-in-law, Paula
Vickery.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (David) Eaton of Lake Havasu
City, and Deborah (Michael) Buckenmeyer of Attica, New York; her sons
Robert (Trudi) Vickery of Clifton Park, New York, and Edward Vickery
of Attica, New York; daughter-in-law Sandy Vickery of Albuquerque, New
Mexico; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces
and nephews.

Arrangements are under the care of the Marley Funeral Home in Attica,
New York. There are no calling hours. A private service will be held
at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Forest Hill
Cemetery, Attica, New York.

May God bless the hardworking members on the staff of The Grand of
Batavia who cared for our mother with love and respect.
