| Published by Today's News Herald from Jun. 6 to Jun. 7, 2021 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Joyce Barnhart McCloud, age 80, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2021 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Joyce was born January 2, 1941 in Des Moines, IA to Jake and Gertrude (Boxx) Barnhart. She earned her bachelor's degree from Drake University. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandma, community volunteer and friend. Joyce was kind, generous, dependable, and thoughtful. She was a junior high teacher in Lake Havasu, AZ for 15 years and coached many years. She had a passion for volunteering and committed over 20 years to Lake Havasu Civitan Club, Special Olympics, and Mount Olive Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling, exercising, spending time with friends and was actively involved in the Daughters of the American Revolution and played in three Bridge clubs. She loved music and was quite the dancer in her younger years and got back at it with the Hole in the Boot line dance club, boot scootin' at least two times a week. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Jake, her mother, Gert, her brother, Gene and her sister, Janet Steinway. She is survived by her three daughters, Mary (Jon) Barnette, Michelle (Joe) Rivera and Jennifer Geis. She loved being a grandma to her six grandchildren Natalie, Jonny, Corinna, Melissa, Jake, and Jaren and to her seven great-grandchildren. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed. Those wishing to honor her life can make a donation in her name to Special Olympics. |
